ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for a discussion on how philanthropy has the potential to spark solutions and bring meaningful change in Greater Philadelphia as we introduce you to the new President and CEO of The Philadelphia Foundation, Pedro A. Ramos, Esq.

Since 1918, The Philadelphia Foundation has worked to improve quality of life in the Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, by building, managing, and distributing philanthropic resources. The Foundation uses investment to grow 900+ charitable funds, ultimately distributing $20 million annually to nearly 1,000 nonprofits.

In his new position, Pedro Ramos works diligently to support The Foundation's tradition of making our community better through philanthropy, while at the same time ushering in a new era for collaboration and innovation. He is the first Latino to lead the organization.

Pedro will speak on the ability of philanthropy to bring about civic engagement and to advance our city’s most vulnerable populations.

Ramos has worked in both business and community leadership roles, including his instrumental positions with the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia School Board, the University of Pennsylvania, and in his service as a partner for Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, LLP.

Ramos’ involvement extends to his engagement with the boards of Project H.O.M.E., The Independence Foundation, the Philadelphia Zoo, the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, PYXERA Global, and the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.

Pedro has been recognized for his many achievements by the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania’s La Justicia Award, the Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia Citizen of the Year, the Annual Puerto Rican Festival’s Citizen of the Year Award, the Philadelphia Business Journal Minority Business Leader Award, and more.

The event will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Pyramid Club in Philadelphia. Check-in begins at 5:30pm, and the event will begin promptly at 6pm. The program will conclude at 7:15pm, followed by a networking reception featuring a wine bar and light hors d’oeuvres.

Registration is required, as seating is limited.
